Free online events for Autism Acceptance Week

Coventry Editorial 3rd Apr, 2024   0

FREE events are being held online for Autism Acceptance Week in Coventry and Warwickshire from April 2 to 8.

Organised by UK charity The National Autistic Society, World Autism Acceptance Week serves as a platform to emphasise the importance of understanding autism and foster inclusive communities.

With approximately 700,000 autistic people across the UK, this neurodevelopmental condition influences how people interact with others and perceive the world around them, with each experience being unique.

The events will focus on providing opportunities for autistic people to explore employment support, given only 29 per cent of autistic people are currently employed.

Events scheduled for this week include supported internships Drop-in, where Coventry Adult Education Services will provide information on supported internships for young people aged 16-25 who are autistic or have a learning disability.

This drop-in session will be held on Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, between 10am to 2pm at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ.

Warwickshire’s Supported Employment Offer will take place Friday, April 5, from 12pm to 12:45pm via Microsoft Teams.

Coventry’s Supported Employment Offer will take place on the same day from 1pm to 1:45pm via Microsoft Teams.
