HOMELESSNESS charity Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire said the need to support those sleeping rough is ‘more pressing than ever’ as it marks 30 years of service to the city.
The charity has been hosting a series of events to celebrate the milestone, including a sponsored run, which raised £120 for Emmaus, a barbeque party, and a go-karting race.
Staff, volunteers, and people being supported by the charity joined in a 5km ParkRun event at the War Memorial Park on September 9.
Since first opening its doors in 1993, the charity has provided a home, support, and meaningful work for people who have faced homelessness.
The charity’s accommodation in Binley, which includes 17 bedrooms, is available for people to stay while they gain confidence and skills.
Julian Price, Chief Executive of Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire said: “Reaching our charity’s 30th birthday is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved over the years, and we feel honoured to be able to celebrate this milestone.
“Our charity shop on Red Lane in Coventry is always buzzing with supporters, and it means a lot to us that people care about their local homelessness charity. Here’s to another 30 years.”
