Household brought together by Council scheme are heading to Wembley

A COVENTRY household are travelling to Wembley on Sunday, hoping for a victorious sky blues win.

Rob, Bernie, Stephen, and Kerry – brought together by the Coventry Shared Lives Scheme – are eagerly preparing for the semi-final clash, embodying the spirit of unity and camaraderie.

The Shared Lives Scheme is a scheme by the Council’s adult social care programme, has provided them with more than just a roof over their heads, it has provided care and friendship.

Stephen and Kerry, living with Bernie and Rob, have formed a close-knit family bond over the years.

Their shared passion for Coventry City football club has only deepened their connection, with Stephen and Rob being avid fans holding season tickets and attending every game religiously.

With the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, all four members, accompanied by Bernie and Kerry, are gearing up for the journey to Wembley. Decked out in bucket hats, scarves, and flags, they eagerly await the opportunity to cheer on the Sky Blues.

Stephen, whose 54th birthday coincides with the match, predicts a 2-1 victory for Coventry, confidently naming Simms and Haji Wright as the goal scorers.

Rob said: “I’ve been a massive Sky Blues fan for years and going with Stephen has been great.

“It is such a perfect way for him to connect with more people – we love it and can’t wait for Sunday.”

Bernie added: “It’s a good scheme because you can make a difference that can change lives by giving people meaningful opportunities.

“You can enhance skills and you can live together as a family. Kerry helps in the kitchen, we cook together, and Stephen helps set the table.

“Kerry calls us a good team – we’re a good team together. It’s especially nice for Stephen to go to Wembley.”
