Life saving eye exam found hidden threat in Cov mother

A LIFE SAVING eye exam uncovered a hidden threat for a Coventry mother.

What began as a routine eye examination turned into a life-saving intervention for Amy McMillan, a young mother and sole breadwinner for her family.

Amy visited Eyesite Eyecare Centres, concerned about a sudden visual disturbance she had experienced over the prior two days.

She had been feeling that something was not quite right with her vision and decided to seek immediate medical attention.

Optometrist Firoza at Eyesite Eyecare Centres, renowned for their four practices across Coventry, conducted a comprehensive examination using a blend of high-tech and traditional techniques.

Standard eye examination machinery was not suitable due to Amy’s weight, requiring Firoza to use alternative methods to assess her.

Despite these hurdles, Firoza’s diligence and expertise paid off, she detected a life-threatening condition during the examination of Amy’s ocular fundus and urgently referred her to a specialist.

Amy was seen on the same day by emergency medical staff, who informed her that without Firoza’s timely detection and referral, Amy would likely have faced either death or a coma.

Currently, Amy is recovering from a lumbar puncture, a procedure necessary to address her condition.
