Man arrested after two killed in Coventry collisions

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after two people were killed after being hit by a car in Coventry.

Police have detained a 33-year-old man on Beckbury Road and he has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

This follows several collisions in the city around 8am yesterday (September 3).

A 44-year-old pedestrian who was struck on Gosford Street and a cyclist, aged 47, who was hit on Woodway Lane died of their injuries.

Another person who was struck on Gosford Street has been treated for injuries which are not life-threatening.

Coventry Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened.




The force added from the information it has, the incident was not being treated as terror-related.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives, and we’ll be doing all we can to support them during this deeply distressing time.”
