THE MAYOR of Nuneaton has officially opened a new housing development in the town.

Coun Martin Walsh attended the launch of  Yew Tree Park and was given a tour of the sales centre and two showhomes.

The 79-home development is being built by Bellway on Gypsey Lane near the Coventry Canal.

This is the first phase of Bellways plan for a new neighbourhood of 575 new homes which will bring £7.3million in investment for the local area.

The money will go towards services including £2.15million for schools £1.9million for roads and £1.36million for sports facilities.

The money will also support healthcare, cycleways, bus stop improvements and canal bridge improvements.

yew Tree Park will have 206 homes for private sales and the rest for low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Coun Walsh said: “I was very impressed with the build quality of the show homes I viewed.

“I especially liked seeing the internal bones of the build. I had never seen something like this before and found that aspect particularly interesting.”

Bellway have a ‘House to Home’ which showcases the building process for people to see.
