AN ORCHESTRAL tribute concert to celebrate the life and legacy of legendary Specials frontman Terry Hall will take place in his home city next month.
The specially commissioned concert will pay tribute to Terry and The Specials, who helped to pioneer the 2-Tone movement when the genre exploded out of Coventry in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The performance will take place on Friday, September 1 from 7.30pm at the Rialto Plaza.
The much-loved ‘Enjoy Yourself’ singer, who grew up in Hillfields, passed away in December aged 63 after a brave battle with cancer.
The orchestra has re-imagined some of The Specials’ classic songs in a symphonic style, with fans able to listen to renditions of ‘A Message to You, Rudy’ and ‘Ghost Town’ among others.
A spokesperson for the Rialto Plaza said: “An orchestral rendition to The Specials aims to be a fitting tribute to this great Coventry musical icon.
“The concert will showcase the enduring appeal of The Specials’ music and the profound impact of Terry Hall’s artistry.
“We hope it will celebrate the power of music to bring people together and inspire change.”
Tickets, priced at £25.76, are available now.
