THE UNIVERSITY of Warwick has marked its one year anniversary of sustainable work-wear scheme.
The pop-up wardrobe provides students with free second hand work-wear in preparation for their interviews.
Over 230kg of clothes were donated by staff and local employers in the past year.
The work-wear wardrobe allows the students to attend interviews for their careers without the financial burden of buying smart clothing, whilst also reducing clothing waste.
A team of sustainability-focused students from Warwick Volunteers prepare donations and run the pop-up wardrobe during events.
Izabela, a life sciences student said: “I liked the idea of working on a project which not only promoted sustainability but also saved students money during a cost-of-living crisis.
“Everyone we spoke to understands the importance of promoting sustainability and were eager to play their part in reducing the number of clothes ending up in landfills.”
Entering the second year of the scheme, the University has plans to feature the pop-ups at more events.
