SIX arrests have been made following disorder at Coventry City’s clash with Leicester City on Saturday.

A 21-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a homophobic public order offence.

Police are investigating a separate incident of criminal damage.

And a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of throwing a missile.

Police are also investigating offensive banners which were put up before the game.

Football Unit Insp Richard Cox said: “Using a football match as an excuse for disorder is totally unacceptable and we will continue to take action to arrest those who come here looking to cause trouble.

“We are continuing to work with our partners from the football club and British Transport Police to review CCTV and investigate incidents inside and outside the ground.

“Offensive banners were put up ahead the Coventry vs Leicester match but were removed.

“Officers from our specialist football unit are working with Coventry City Football Club and our police colleagues in Warwickshire, where the banners were placed, to investigate the matter.”
