South stand to open to home fans in new Coventry City trial

COVENTRY City will be trialling a new arrangement for the South Stand from the home game against Preston North End next Friday (February 23) in a bid to reduce segregation between home and away fans.

The plans would see away supporters moved to the right corner of the South Stand, being housed in Blocks 6, 7 and 8.

This would then see Sky Blues fans be allowed in Blocks 10 to 12 of the South Stand.

The club and the Coventry Building Society Arena are working to reduce the segregation between home and away supporters and to increase home capacity ahead of next season.

John Taylor, Chief Operating Officer at Coventry City, said: “We’re pleased to confirm that we have been able to open these Blocks to Sky Blues supporters for the game against Preston North End on a trial basis with this new configuration of the South Stand.

“I know this has been an ongoing issue for several years, and this is the next stage in the process to come to a solution on this and this will hopefully help to further improve the matchday experience for supporters.

“It will be great to see home fans behind the goal in the South Stand and we hope the trial will prove successful.”
