Coventry Editorial 9th Jan, 2024   0

THREE people have been arrested as part of a crackdown in Coventry City Centre this week.

Two people were arrested after an attempted robbery in the city on Sunday, January 7 after a woman reported being threatened with violence if she didn’t pay them money.

Officers attended and arrested a 46-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man on suspicion of attempted robbery from an address on Purcell Road, and they both remain in custody.

Teams are carrying out increased patrols and disruption work against suspects in Coventry City Centre.

Elsewhere, Neighbourhood Task Force officers on patrol on Ansty Road stopped a car for document checks shortly after 3am today (Tuesday, January 9) when they noticed a strong smell of cannabis.

After searching the car, they found more than 160 wraps of cannabis and arrested the driver on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

While searching the car, they also found a knuckleduster in the centre console, so the driver was additionally arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, and he remains in custody.
