TWO have been arrested and a machete has been recovered after an armed robbery in Coventry which saw a stolen car recovered just hours after it was taken.
Officers were called to Treherne Road shortly before 7.30am today (Tuesday) after a man was forced out of his car by two men armed with a machete.
One of the men got into the victim’s car and drove it away, while the other made off in the car they arrived in.
Police were able to track both cars, and a man was arrested after the vehicle believed to have been involved in the robbery was abandoned.
The machete was also seized.
The second man was arrested from the stolen car a short time later.
Officers are now making arrangements to return the stolen car to its owner.
Two men, aged 26 and 34, are now in custody on suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Robbery and vehicle crime are major priorities for us and we regularly carry out operations against those who would steal and sell on cars, as well as the chop shops they often take them to.
“We know how much of an inconvenience this kind of crime can be to people, as well as how stressful these offences are.
“That’s why we are more determined than ever to take action.”
