TWO men have been charged following an armed robbery in Coventry.

The robbery, which took place on Treherne Road at around 7.30am on Tuesday (April 16) saw a man forced out of his car by two men armed with a machete.

One of the men got into the victim’s car and drove it away, while the other made off in the car they arrived in.

Police were able to track both cars, and a man was arrested after the vehicle believed to have been involved in the robbery was abandoned.

The machete was also seized.

The second man was arrested from the stolen car a short time later.

Wasim Khan, aged 26, and Lee Gardner, 34; both from Coventry, were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and driving offences.

They appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday) and were remanded ahead of a Crown Court hearing on May 16.
