A COVENTRY homelessness charity has ‘urgently’ appealed for volunteers to help out at its city shop on Red Lane.
Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire need volunteers to carry out electrical testing on donated items and assist with its furniture pick-up service.
Full training will be offered and people will be able to volunteer from one day a week.
All volunteers receive a 20 per cent discount at the charity shop, lunch is provided and bus fares are reimbursed.
No experience is necessary but volunteers will need to be friendly, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Funds raised at the Emmaus shop help the charity provide a home and meaningful work for up to 17 people who have experienced homelessness.
Emmaus recently said more Coventrians had sought their help and added it was doing its best to help as many people as possible.
Operations Manager Falishia Channer said: “If you prefer to be out and about, we’re looking for strong individuals to help load and unload our furniture van as it collects donated items and drops off purchases.
“If you’ve done electrical (PAT) testing before, we also need help with making sure the things people have kindly donated, are safe for resale.”
