COVENTRY City Football Club paid heartfelt tribute to fans who have passed away with a poignant Memorial Matchday during Saturday’s fixture against Leeds United.
Led by Club Chaplain Kieran Joseph, a solemn pre-match service was held in the Memorial Garden to honour the memory of Sky Blues supporters who are no longer with us.
Names of departed fans were read aloud, and loved ones were invited to collect Sky Blue seeds as a symbol of remembrance.
Inside the stadium, the matchday programme served as a memorial, featuring the names of those being remembered on the day.
At halftime, the Matchday Memorial video was shown, showing tributes to departed fans through a montage of names and photos.
The first event was held in August 2021 and the club now holds two matchday memorials per season.
