A WOMAN was seriously injured in a hit and run in Coventry last night.

The woman, in her 30s, has sustained potentially life-changing leg injuries after being hit by a car on Aldermans Green Road just after 9pm.

Police believe she was a passenger in a Seat Leon which was rammed by a BMW at the junction of Eburne Road, causing disorder to break out between the occupants of both vehicles.

The woman is then alleged to have been driven at by the BMW and possibly also hit by a Ford Focus, before both vehicles drove off.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said the first ambulance arrived in five minutes and was backed up shortly after by a second ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car.

“On arrival, crews discovered a car and pedestrian had been involved in a collision and there were three patients.”

One woman was treated by crews for potentially life-changing injuries before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

Two other patients were assessed by medics but did not require hospital treatment and were given self-care advice before being discharged at the scene.

West Midlands Police have stepped up patrols in the area today, talking to local residents as officers try to understand what happened last night. The force’s investigation to trace the vehicles involved is ongoing.

Witnesses or anyone with information which can help the police’s investigation can contact officers via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
