COVENTRY Police have been cracking down on speeding drivers after a number of collisions in Willenhall.
Binley and Willenhall Local Neighbourhood Team officers took part in a proactive speeding operation on Willenhall Lane and St James Lane last Sunday, dishing out ten speeding tickets in just an hour.
Other motoring offences included one person not wearing a seatbelt and two drivers given advice on appropriate car seats for children.
Officers organised the operation after three crashes in one week – a car smashed into the front of a house on St James Lane on October 15, a day later a similar incident occurred when a McLaren sports car crashed into a property on Willenhall Lane.
No one was seriously hurt in those two incidents but on October 22 a man sustained a head wound and a broken wrist after being hit by a car on St James Lane.
Penalties for those caught range from attending a speed awareness course at the drivers’ expense, points and a fine to prosecution via the courts.
