COVENTRY and Warwickshire have been recognised in an international award for foreign investment and economic potential.

FDI Intelligence European Cities and Regions of the Future 2024′ awards, sponsored by The Financial Times, recognised the area in second place, which is one spot up form last year.

The region garnered top 10 rankings for Economic Potential and Business Friendliness, affirming its status as a magnet for global investment.

According to recent data, the area welcomed 56 foreign investment projects in the 2022-23 period, marking a 24 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

This increase in projects created 3,195 jobs.

Key sectors driving investment in Coventry & Warwickshire include automotive and future mobility, digital creative and software, and e-commerce and logistics.

Martin Watson, portfolio holder for economy and place at Warwickshire County Council, said: “Warwickshire is one of the most attractive investment locations for business in the UK, and we continue to be innovative and proactive in the support we provide to business, such as the Property Infrastructure Fund the unique offer around Warwickshire Skills Hub.

Coun Jim O’Boyle, cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change at Coventry City Council said, “We work very hard to attract new investment to our city – to create jobs for local people and to support the economy.

“These results back up what we know – that our city and the wider area is a good place to invest.”
