Coventry recycling and bin collections will run as normal in lockdown 2

DURING Lockdown 2 Coventry’s bin crews and street cleaning teams will continue to collect as usual – but ask people to follow Covid-19 safety guidelines.

London Road household waste and recycling centre will also remain open with a booking system still in operation.

Coventry City Council is asking people to follow three simple guidelines to help minimise the risk of transmitting the virus:

  • Please wipe down your bin handles both before and after collection
  • Any Covid-19 related waste needs to be double bagged and only put these in the bin after three days (72 hours)
  • Try to keep your visits to the recycling centre to a minimum – pre-booked appointments only

Coun Patricia Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services said “Our waste services teams have worked really hard through the pandemic and they continue to do a great job.

“They have had lots of support from local people and I know how much they have appreciated it. As we enter a second phase of lockdown the help local people can give will once again be vital – and I am sure we can count on Coventry people to play their part.”
