COVENTRY residents are being called upon to gather up friends and family to host their own Blooming Great Tea Party in aid of Marie Curie.
Inspired by Britain’s love for baking, hosting a Blooming Great Tea Party – whether big or small – is a great excuse to get together and catch up with loved ones.
The White Watch Firefighters at Canley Fire Station are even getting involved in the celebrations which will run between Monday (June 20) and Wednesday (June 29).
The summer fundraising campaign by Marie Curie aims to raise vital funds for the charity which provides care and support for people living with terminal illness and their families.
So far, tea parties across the UK have raised over £4.5 million since the campaign started in 2008.
Ryan Forrester, commander at Canley Fire Station, said: “Supporting the Blooming Great Tea Party is an excuse to get together with your family and friends to enjoy tea and cake, whilst raising money for Marie Curie.
“It seems too good an opportunity to miss.”
Kate McGrory, community fundraiser at Marie Curie said: “Every pound raised will help Marie Curie Nurses care for someone living with a terminal illness and their family.”
