Coventry set for over 200 new homes on old industrial site

Coventry Editorial 29th Aug, 2022   0

PERSIMMON Homes has planning permission for 223 two to four bedroom houses after buying land on an industrial site on Burnaby Road.

The firm purchased the land from Clowes Developments and were already developing an industrial site adjacent to this one between Burnaby Road and nearby Holbrooks Park.

The new site is reportedly where the first ever Aston Martin was manufactured in 1915, but the building has become rundown and the land has been contaminated, with evidence of asbestos across the plot.

The developer must pay £1.94million toward local educational services, £264,000 for parks and £49,000 for a bike hut, in accordance with section 106 of the planning agreement.

Demolition is due to start this month and the development will begin soon after.

Persimmon Homes Central’s managing director Neil Williams said: “This is a continuation and additional phase of our current and successful Whitmore Place development.”
