Coventry shopping centre holds the guide to going green

THE LOWER Precinct Shopping Centre in Coventry has unveiled ‘The Little Green Book’ guide to help people be more environmentally friendly, writes Morgan Hart.

The move – part of its Sustainable September campaign – will promote conscious consumerism with the book encompassing sustainable shopping options.

These choices will span from eco-friendly fashion and beauty to eco-friendly food.

Throughout ‘Sustainable September’, the centre aims to inspire a heightened awareness of making green choices, and encouraging use of reusable bags.

Recognising the tendency to forget reusable bags while shopping, the centre has scheduled a workshop from 11am to 3pm on September 16.

The workshop’s objective is clear – welcoming a positive behaviour change that says ‘no’ to plastic bags.

Promising an immersive experience, the centre will provide bespoke canvas bags made from recycled material.

Bags given can then be personalised by people who will also learn about the significance of reducing plastic waste.

Shoppers will find out first-hand about the role of reusable bags in reducing negative environmental impact.

An additional workshop will be held the following Saturday, September 23.

Lenny the Lion, the centre’s charismatic mascot, will make special appearances at both events.

Lower Precinct manager Nicola Cormell said: “Embracing sustainability isn’t just an option; it’s a responsibility we all share.”
