COVENTRY social enterprise Fair for You which has helped over 50,000 children nationally to avoid going hungry has won the prestigious Global Good Awards for the second consecutive year.

The enterprise was honoured in the Community Partnerships category for its Iceland Food Club scheme.

The zero-interest loans scheme, which it operates for retailer Iceland Foods, allows families to stock up for the school holidays.

It has been used by more than 26,000 households across the UK, helping children to avoid going hungry.

In June, shocking statistics revealed more than 31,400 Coventry children were in poverty in 2021/22.

Fair For You has supported 469 customers in Coventry, with 135 of those having an Iceland Food Club card.

Evidence has shown the scheme has helped parents to get control of their finances, reduce stress and anxiety, and avoid having to use dangerous illegal lenders.

Last year, Fair for You was awarded the ‘One to Watch’ prize in the Community Partnership category.

Simon Dukes, CEO of Fair for You, said: “Being recognised alongside other fantastic schemes by these prestigious awards is further validation of the power of affordable credit, and the impact retailers can have through such partnerships.”

Fair for You was created in 2015 and reinvests all surpluses into its social mission of supporting financially-excluded households to buy essential items, avoid hardship and improve their financial resilience.
