FIVE talented Coventry University students have marketed themselves well enough to reach the final of a major award.
Farhana Azhan and Arati Warrier of Team ‘Slay it, ate’ and Frida Mahecha Taveras, Roshni Mistry and Florence Idi of Team ‘Elysian’ are among nine student teams shortlisted for the final round of The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) student competition, The Pitch.
The field is being narrowed down to three teams before the winning group is announced at a virtual live final on Friday, March 17.
The top student team will be named CIM’s ‘Marketers of the Future’ and receive a one-year complimentary CIM membership and a £1,500 cash prize.
The Pitch sees students from universities across the world compete to respond to a live client brief.
The competition was sponsored by the sustainable social platform, WeAre8.
This year, teams were challenged to come up with a marketing strategy by utilising a range of channels, advocates and partners to grow the userbase of the 8Citizens platform.
Teammates Frida, Roshni and Florence said: “Working together on The Pitch has helped us to develop multiple skills such as problem-solving, teamwork as well as time and project management skills.
“We spent a lot of time preparing and recording our presentation, making sure that it was polished and professional.
“This was the perfect opportunity to utilise our theoretical knowledge and apply it to a real case scenario.
“We are proud and excited to be shortlisted to be in the finals and are wasting no time on building the winning pitch.”
