COVENTRY will be getting its own version of the World renowned board game MONOPOLY to celebrate its year as the UK City of Culture.
This new version of the world’s most popular and famous board game will see the typical addresses from the original MONOPOLY game, replaced by places Coventry.
The board will honour 30 of the city’s landmarks and six of the very best Coventry charities and on the Community Chest squares and cards.
And Winning Moves UK, which is creating the game under licence from Hasbro, wants to hear from residents about which landmarks they would like to see on the spaces.
Coventry Cathedral, Coventry City FC, The Lady Godiva Statue and The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and are among some expected popular choices.
George Shrimpton, from Winning Moves UK, said: “In this year of community we are delighted to be celebrating and honouring Coventry in this way.
“We have had clamours for a new game for quite some time and we feel this is the perfect time and year to produce this board and in this way.
“We may also end up spoilt for choice putting this new edition together – Coventry is blessed with some great loved landmarks.
“The new game will see sets and cards themed around heritage, shopping, education, entertainment and lots more.
“The Chance and Community Chest cards will be customised – one could send players back three spaces for dropping litter at the Cathedral.”
In 2002 there was a Coventry MONOPOLY game which, though hugely popular in its day, has been discontinued for many years.
People wanting to nominate landmarks and charities to feature in the game can email their suggestions to email@example.com or by post to The MONOPOLY: Coventry Edition game, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ.
Nominations can also be submitted via The MONOPOLY: Coventry Edition game Facebook page.
The deadline for entries is 11.59pm on April 24.
The new Coventry MONOPOLY edition will hit the shops in October.
