Coventry to remember those who served next weekend

Coventry Editorial 6th Nov, 2022   0

COVENTRY will be joining together to pay its respects to those who served their country next weekend to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Next Friday, November 11, West Orchards Shopping Centre will hold its Armistice Day Poppy Drop from 10.45am.

A brief service will finish with the sounding of the Last Post at 11am, followed by a two-minute silence whilst 4,000 poppies fall from the dome.

Then on Sunday, November 13, the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place at 10.45am at War Memorial Park.

The service will be led by the Bishop of Coventry and will feature a military parade of past, present and future armed forces personnel, who will march to the Cenotaph.

At 3pm there will be a communal grave service on London Road which will have a short reading, prayers, a two-minute silence, and the laying of wreaths.

And there will be a screening of War Requiem at the John Laing Centre at 6.30pm, followed by a talk and discussion with the film’s producer, Don Boyd.
