COVENTRY landmarks and areas in the city centre will be turned blue this evening to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS.
Areas that will be made awash with blue include Greyfriars Green, Whittle Arch and Christchurch Spire.
Created in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all and free at the point of delivery.
It now treats more than a million people a day in England alone.
Coventry showed its affection for the NHS during the pandemic, during which University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust matron May Parsons became the first nurse in the world to deliver a Covid-19 vaccination to a patient outside a clinical trial.
Last year, the city council awarded the UHCW NHS Trust the Freedom of the City in recognition of the staffs efforts.
