COVENTRY University has teamed up with a national charity to offer free art classes to school pupils in the region.
The university is taking part in The Sorrell Foundation’s National Art & Design Saturday Club and will be delivering weekly art lessons to young people aged between 14 and 16 years of age.
The programme is run at 41 centres across the country and has proved a huge success with around a third of club members progressing on to diploma, foundation or undergraduate art courses.
This will be the fifth year running that Coventry University has taken part in the scheme.
During the course, art club members will receive expert guidance from the university’s teaching staff and will have access to specialist facilities free of charge.
They’ll also have the chance to visit museums and galleries, attend a master class with one of the country’s leading artists and exhibit their own work at a special Summer Show at Somerset House in London next year.
