Coventry welcomes new police chief

Coventry Editorial 14th Jan, 2024   0

COVENTRY has a new police chief in town as Paul Drover takes over from former leader Pete Henrick as the borough commander.

Chief superintendent Paul Drover will be responsible for all aspects of policing in the area, with a focus on three main priorities.

Those include targeting criminals and securing justice for victims and witnesses, ensuring the public have the opportunity to be involved in policing through volunteering, by shaping response to neighbourhood issues or by scrutinising how powers are used and lastly building a professional, approachable, and representative team.

Outlining his plans for the next few years, Paul wants Coventry Police to be recognised as a service big enough to cope with everything that is asked of it, while showing that the force is small enough to care about the things that matter to the community.

Before becoming Coventry’s local police Commander, Paul led the force’s criminal investigations department designing a new local model and the Major Crime Unit which has changed the way we deliver investigations today.

Paul said: “This is the second time I’ve worked in the city, and it’s an absolute privilege to come and work alongside dedicated officers and great partners.”
