AFTER SUCCESSFULLY losing four stone, a Coventry woman is re-launching a slimming world group in Coventry.
Lisa Kingham was at her highest weight in 2004 at 21 stone after giving birth to her son and she said doctors struggled to giver her an epidural due to her weight.
The 43 year old added she tried many diets over the years, but her weight always returned.
After becoming critically ill with Takayasus Arteritis, a form of vasculitis – Lisa had open heart surgery to replace an aortic valve, followed by chemotherapy.
Lisa said: “My weight went up even more due to having the high dose steroids. I remember my face holding all the water and feeling so bloated.
“Over the next years life was exceedingly difficult, I had massive support from my family.
“My weight was always an issue throughout. With all the medications and my sedentary lifestyle from my illness it really took its toll on my body and then on my mental health too.”
In November 2023, Lisa returned to slimming world, this time with more motivation and a plan.
After her councillor helped her regain control on her life, Lisa decided to apply to a counselling course and is now studying at Warwick University as well as becoming a slimming world consultant.
Lisa’s slimming world group will be held at Ansty Road United Reformed Church in Wyken every Thursday between 5.30m and 7pm.
