Coventry youngsters encouraged to submit Rugby League World Cup mascot design

Coventry Editorial 9th May, 2022   0

ONE lucky youngster could be the artist that designs the mascot for the Rugby League World Cups mens, womens and wheelchair tournaments.

Each design should capture the spirit of the tournament, while representing all three competitions.

The judges are also looking for a great name and backstory, and the mascot should represent the values of the World Cup.

The winner will receive two tickets to the mens and womens finals day on November 19 at Old Trafford.

They will also be able to pick one other tournament match apart from the finals to take their entire class to.

Their winning mascot will be bought to life before their eyes when they visit the tournament creative studio.

Coventry will be hosting a match at the Building Society Arena in October when defending champions Australia play Scotland.

Jon Dutton, Chief Executive of RLWC2021, said:“We want this year’s Rugby League World Cup to be an event that is remembered as one that inspires young people from all walks of life to get involved in sport and live healthy and active lives.

“Therefore, we thought it was only right that our tournament mascot be designed by the very people we are aiming to inspire.”

To enter the mascot competition, email [email protected] or sent your entries via post to The Mascot Challenge, RLWC Bonded Warehouse, 18 Lower Byrom Street, Manchester, M3 4AP.
