Coventry youngsters writing it out in competition

Coventry Editorial 6th Dec, 2022   0

YOUNGSTERS between seven and 11 will be writing it out at Coventry Building Society’s Young Writer of the Year competition.

The competition will be run across primary schools in the city with prizes available to the winners and runners-up.

Young writers will be tasked with writing a story that begins with ‘I looked out of the window, and I could not believe my eyes…’ and will have until Friday, December 16 to enter.

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on World Book Day at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Leanne Stanley, Senior Community Specialist at Coventry Building Society, said: “It’s amazing how creative young minds can be.

“We saw from last year’s competition how many brilliant wordsmiths we have in our local schools, and this is another chance for them to let that creativity flow.

“Story writing is a great bit of activity for youngsters looking for a way to unleash their imagination.

“This competition helps to harness that creativity and encourages children to develop their writing skills in a really fun way.

“The calibre of entries last time was mind-blowing and we’re really hopeful for more of the same this time around.”
