OVER 200 future Chloe Kelly’s celebrated the Lionesses coming to Coventry by holding a city-wide football tournament.

The England women’s team played Italy in the Arnold Clark Cup at the Coventry Building Society (CBS) Arena over the weekend, with Belgium also taking on the Korea Republic.

Youngsters got into the football fever with over 200 year three and four students from 22 primary schools battling it out as they worked towards the winning title.

And some lucky youngsters managed to get their hands on the Arnold Clark Cup ahead of the weekends big games.

The tournament has been organised by Coventry’s School Games organisers and is part of an ongoing stream of football matches for girls.

Danny Kingham and Stuart Davoile, Coventry School Games Organisers, said: “Both boys and girls already have great opportunities all year round to get involved in sport and physical activity, especially in the education system.

“But this tournament is really about celebrating that and giving the girls the opportunity to shine.

“We are really pleased that the girls got to celebrate the Lionesses coming to Coventry too.”
