Coventry's half marathon to return

Coventry Editorial 10th Jul, 2023   0

COVENTRY’S half marathon will be making a welcome return to the city later this year after not-for-profit Run For All announced a partnership with the council and Coventry University’s Students’ Union.

The popular event will take place on Sunday, October 29 and will run on the city’s previous Half Marathon route, starting on Gosford Street and finishing outside the steps of the Coventry Cathedral.

The city centre and countryside route will include Allesley Park Fairy Village, Coventry Peace Orchard and the White Arch.

This will be the first time the half marathon has been run in Coventry since 2021.

People of all abilities will be able to take part in the marathon to raise cash for and support local charities and good causes.

Run For All iwas set up in 2007 by amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE, who made global headlines by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events – despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Jane passed away later that year.

Coventry City Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for events, Coun Abdul Salam Khan, said: “It is great to have this event back on our calendar and welcome the runners to the city again.

“I hope to see thousands of people enjoy this event and it’s brilliant that we can give residents and visitors to Coventry the opportunity to enjoy physical activity while seeing so much of our city and its fantastic history at the same time.”
