PEOPLE will be able to visit Coventry’s heritage venues for free from September 6 to 15 when the city celebrates its 30th Heritage Open Days anniversary.

Over 40 venues will open their doors and allow the public to learn about Coventry’s rich history and culture through events, tours and activities.

The programme will include a story of what happened to the Cathedral during the Blitz from costumed World War II fireman, as well as learning about the conservation of objects at the Herbert Art Gallery.

There will also be a chance to see a patchwork exhibition by Jane Cobbett at Russell’s Garden Centre.

Coun Abdul Salam Khan, deputy leader of Coventry City Council and cabinet member for events said: “Our city has proudly supported Heritage Open Days since its inception 30 years ago, and we are delighted to be part of this event once again.

“We take great pride in calling Coventry our home and it really does have so much to offer. From Daimler Powerhouse to the Lunt Roman Fort, we hope you will discover new places or expand your knowledge about our wonderful city.

“Best of all, the venues and events that are part of programme offer free entry during Heritage Open Days.”

This year’s theme is ‘Routes, Networks and Connections’, and two Heritage and History Led Cycle Rides will take place during the festival.
