Coventry's Lower Precinct wins environment award

LOWER Precinct Shopping Centre has won an International Green Apple Environment award.

The shopping centre went up against over 500 other nominees and will be presented with a trophy and certificate in the Houses of Parliament.

They are being recognised for their eco-sculpture sustainability scheme, which promoted the importance of recycling.

This included a nine-foot-high multicoloured dodecahedron made entirely from recycled or repurposed materials, which was designed to promote positive conversations around environmental issues.




The work, which was created by local artist Ildikó Nagy and Eastern Green Junior school and prevented around 1,000kg of waste from going into landfill.

Lower Precinct centre manager Nicola Cormell said: “We are so proud of the team and tenants here at Lower Precinct and their efforts to be more sustainable”.
