Coventry's Mind charity shop on the hunt for kind-hearted volunteers

Coventry Editorial 5th Feb, 2017   0

A CITY charity shop is urging people to make volunteering their New Year’s resolution.

The Mind shop in Barras Heath is encouraging local residents to give up a little of their time to help in their shop.

The charity relies on the generosity of the community to keep going, and is searching for volunteers to help sorting, steaming and pricing donations, as well as handling sales and customer service.

David Elvidge, the Regional Manager for the Mind shop in Coventry, said: “Volunteering at the Mind shop in Coventry is a great way to give something back to the local community and it also provides a chance to develop new skills or build work experience, and can even support you in obtaining a NVQ.

“Our volunteers need no prior experience and we just ask for a commitment of two to three hours per week.”

The shops provide a vital source of income for Mind and its army of over 1,800 volunteers across the country who give up their valuable time to help the stores run smoothly.

Mind ensures anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn – providing information and advice services, as well as campaigning to secure a better deal for the one in four people who experience a mental health problem every year.
