Coventry's Positive Youth Foundation launches winter youth hubs

Coventry Editorial 11th Jan, 2023   0

POSITIVE Youth Foundation (PYF) is helping young people tackle food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis through the launch of its winter youth clubs.

The charity clubs, which run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Hillfields Young Peoples Centre, will give youngsters a warm space and a hot meal to take home or hand out to struggling members of their community.

Winter youth clubs are open to those aged between 13 and 18, providing attendees with access to a professional tutor and IT equipment and activities focused on education, community and good mental wellbeing.

The clubs will be open for two hours from 5.30pm, although food parcels will be available to collect throughout winter, including outside PYFs opening times.

The cash for the winter youth clubs came through the Coventry Building Society which recently announced a £1million donation to support charities and organisations across the city.

PYF director of operations, Krishan Singh, said: “We want to empower young people to support their local community and combat the challenges we all face through the cost of living.

“Our Winter Youth Clubs will provide a safe space for young people to keep warm, have a hot meal and feel part of a community. We will also be signposting other support programmes to ensure we have a lasting and sustainable impact on those we reach.”
