COVENTRY’S The Yard will be celebrating Pride this weekend with three nights of partying for charity.
The LGBTQ+ bar will get ‘pub pride’ under way tonight (Friday May 26) with the entertainment including cabaret from drag queen Shania Pain followed by DJ Damien until 4am.
There will be more cabaret tomorrow (Saturday) when Queen Queef hits the stage for the second dose of drag.
Later in the evening, lovers of 90s music will be able to dance the night away with the ’90s reborn club night’, which will be headlined by Katherine Ellis from Freemasons and Ruff Driverz.
And from 7pm on Sunday there will be a drag bingo night hosted by Brenda LaBeau, where there will be plenty of games, prizes and music.
This year’s event will be supporting LGBTQ+ charity Ask for Clive and their national Pub Pride event.
Launched in 2021, Pub Pride aims to allow venues across the UK to celebrate pride following two summers of cancellations of larger national Pride events.
Aran Nugent, Marketing and Events Manager of The Yard said; “We are so excited to be hosting Pub Pride for the third year in a row here in Coventry, raising awareness for Ask for Clive and how important it is for venues to show the ways they support their local communities.
“This year’s event also brings light to the worrying statistic that around 60 per cent of the UK’s dedicated LGBTQ+ venues have disappeared in the last decade.”
