COVENTRY’S teenage water polo star Amelie Perkins shined in her senior debut for England Ladies as they finished second at last weekend’s home nations championships in Dublin.
Amelie scored 11 goals in the tournament as the England Ladies convincingly beat Scotland and Wales before narrowly losing to Ireland to finish second.
The women’s team picked a young side to travel to Dublin, with Amelie one of two 15-year-olds selected to compete.
Amelie’s attention now turns to the under-17 European championships in Turkey in July.
As well as her international commitments, Earlsdon athlete Amelie plays for Coventry’s water polo squad and a ladies’ national league team in Cheltenham.
She said she was really proud to represent England at a senior international tournament for the first time.
“It was a good challenge playing against the other teams, especially the host nation Ireland.
“It was the first time I played with a lot of the squad so that was a great experience too – we have a talented team of young players and we are all keen to do well moving forward.”
