Crowdfunder set up in memory of 'much-loved' Coventry hospital worker Joel Carriedo

A MEMORIAL fund has been set up to raise money for the family of ‘much-loved’ Coventry hospital worker Joel Carriedo, who was tragically killed after being struck by a car on Woodway Lane earlier this month.

The 47-year-old was confirmed dead shortly after the collision on September 3.

The crowd-funder was set up by Coventry modern matron May Parsons, with all the money raised going to his wife Marilyn and two young children.

So far over £2,200 has been raised towards the crowdfunder’s £10,000 target.

May said Joel was a very much loved husband, father, son, brother and friend who was cruelly taken away from his family and community.

Joel joined University Hospital, Coventry in 2017, working on Ward 40 (Care of the Elderly) before moving to Ward 32 (Gastroenterology) a few months ago.

His family said Joel was a loving husband and father of two, who worked extremely hard as a healthcare assistant.

They added he would be missed dearly by all who knew him and thanked the community for their continued support during this very difficult time.

Leo Moran, 44, also passed away after being struck by the same vehicle on Woodway Lane shortly before Joel was hit on September 3.

A suspect was arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder and has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
