HISTORIAN and TV presenter Dan Snow will be in conversation with fellow author Sinclair McKay at Coventry Cathedral in February 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Dresden raids.
The talk, Dresden – The Fire and The Darkness – on Tuesday February 4, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, is a one-off special by Stratford Literary Festival and tickets went on sale today, Tuesday, December 17.
The Allies obliterated the German city of Dresden in four devastating raids between February 13 and 15 1945 – killing an estimated 25,000 people.
‘Was Dresden a legitimate military target, or was the bombing a last act of atavistic mass murder in a war already won, to wreak revenge on the bombing of Coventry?’ is one of the questions to be discussed at the event.
Dan Snow is the best-selling author of The Secret Life of Bletchley Park, while journalist Sinclair McKay’s book Dresden – The Fire and The Darkness, explores the stories behind the bombing.
