THE FAMILY of iconic rugby player David Duckham have invited all Coventry supporters to join them at a memorial service on Monday, February 27.
The tribute to Duckham will take place at Coventry Cathedral from 2.30pm followed by a celebration of his life and contribution to rugby at Butts Park Arena.
Duckham, who made almost 200 appearances for Coventry between 1967 and 1979, died last month aged 76.
Born in the city in 1946, Duckham attended King Henry VIII Grammar School and went on to become a local hero, winning an MBE for his services to rugby.
Coventry Rugby held a minute’s silence before kick-off against Jersey on January 14 in memory of the city’s greatest-ever player.
Alongside his Coventry heroics, Duckham also played 36 games for England, scoring ten tries, and made 17 appearances for the British and Irish Lions in Australia and New Zealand.
He was famously part of the 1971 British and Irish Lions side that secured a series victory against the All Blacks.
