A DEDICATED charity manager who has saved and transformed countless lives in Coventry has stepped down after 31 years.
Julie Lancaster, the manager of The Light House in Coventry, has retired – marking the end of an era for the charity.
Julie first joined The Light House in 1994 as a part-time counsellor to help fulfil its mission to provide counselling to all, regardless of their ability to pay.
She quickly became an integral part of the charity’s work, offering hope and healing to those in need.
In 2003, Julie took on the challenge of establishing the Centre for Relational Care in Warwick, expanding the reach of therapeutic support to a wider community.
By 2008, Julie had stepped into the role of full-time manager at The Light House, a position she held for 16 years.
Julie has also dedicated many hours to training new counsellors, her mentorship and expertise helping to shape the next generation of counsellors – many of whom have gone on to make a significant impact in the field.
Charity director John Banks said: “Countless lives will have been saved because of the counselling they received from Julie, along with the many couples whose relationships have been transformed, and the associates and students who have benefited from her years of experience passed down to them.
“Under her guidance, the charity has weathered many challenges and grown into a trusted pillar of support in Coventry.
“The number of clients she has helped over the years is immeasurable, and the countless hours she has spent listening, supporting, and guiding individuals through their struggles stand as a testament to her deep commitment to the well-being of others.
“Her leadership has steered the organisation through times of change and uncertainty, ensuring that it remains a sanctuary for those seeking emotional and psychological support.
“Colleagues and clients alike will deeply miss her wisdom, kindness, and steadfast presence.
“Her legacy will live on in the lives she has touched, the organisation she has nurtured, and the countless individuals she has empowered to find hope and healing.
“Thank you, Julie, for your extraordinary dedication and for making such a lasting difference. We wish you a joyful and fulfilling retirement.”
