THE driving force behind one of Coventry’s three foodbanks has been handed a Good Citizen Award.
Gavin Kibble has run Coventry Central foodbank on Sparkbrook Street in Hillfields since it was established in 2011.
It has fed over 18,000 people in the past year alone and has become one of the biggest in the UK, with 14 churches acting as distribution centres.
Now he had been commended by the city council for doing what has been described as an ‘invaluable job’.
Deputy council leader Phil Townshend said: “Gavin Kibble is a selfless, caring man whose work in Coventry cannot be valued enough.
“He has done an amazing job running Coventry foodbank and the sheer volume of people who have been helped by his caring hand is almost unbelievable.
“The fact Gavin has done so much in a small number of years is fantastic and I am sure he will continue in a similar vein.”
