'Don't panic' says Coventry-based training provider following GCSE results

A COVENTRY-based training provider has advised youngsters ‘not to panic’ after GCSE results were revealed.

PET-Xi, which provides apprenticeships and work experience to those in need across the midlands, is experiencing its busiest time of year amid students’ transition from receiving grades to moving onto the next stage of their education or employment.

And joint managing director Fleur Sexton told The Observer that apprenticeships are great for anyone wanting to gain valuable experience and enter the world of work.

She said: “My main advice is don’t panic. There are many exciting paths and they don’t all depend on GCSE success.

“I’d advise students to talk to their teachers about the next steps.

“Also talk to the college or institution where you feel you may have missed out on a place. They will often still accept you.

“Otherwise there are many traineeships and apprentices to consider – we run some of the best and can also put you in touch with outside employers.”

PET-Xi has been working with people in Coventry since 1995 to deliver intensive intervention to help young people succeed in exams and provide successful futures.

The company is now helping people of all ages succeed on a course that suits them – and Fleur said the company works with hundreds of schools around the country.

She added: “Our courses have a positive impact on learner progress, helping learners achieve results through creating resilience and confidence.

“Apprenticeships aren’t just for those who are stuck for an option. They are so much more than that.

“They are great for anyone keen to enter the world of work to gain experience, build up contacts, and to earn some money.

“It’s all about doing a great job and we have some very able young people with us at the moment.”
