EARLSDON primary school is celebrating after being recognised in a national competition for the difference it makes to pupils.

The school was presented with a bronze award in the Making a Difference – Primary School of the Year category of the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

It is the second successive year the school has been recognised in the contest.

Earlsdon teachers and students had to present to a panel of judges showing how they have improved both the school and the wider community.

Judges praised the school’s dedication to serving as a School of Sanctuary as well as its work in worldwide peace projects.

Earlsdon deputy headteacher Rebecca Bollands said: “We are delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious national award.

“It is a testament to the dedication of our staff, and also to the commitment of our pupils not only to their learning but also to their active role in our community.”

Broad Heath Primary School Headteacher Jane Frankish received silver in the Lifetime Achievement category at the same awards.

The Pearson Awards aim to celebrate the impact of education and transformational teaching across the UK.
