EDITOR'S COMMENT: Council leader losing its ‘media war’ with Coventry City

EDITOR’S COMMENT

Does council leader George Duggins know he’s losing what the council once secretly dubbed its ‘media war’ with Coventry City’s owners Sisu?

Perhaps presumptuously, he told an investigator in 2015: “It takes something for a football club to take on a council and the public to be on the council’s side.”

This week, less boldly amid public criticism, he said: “They’re trying to distract people of Coventry” away from his intransigent ‘no talks’ position, after he failed to show for all-party talks in Westminster.

‘Leader’ Duggins, the council and Wasps should sit down, talk and work to keep Coventry City in Coventry for next season.

When even the anti-Sisu Sky Blue Trust demands that, you know your preconditions to negotiations are unpopular.
