MILLIONS of pounds more of city taxpayers’ money is being made available by the council for UK City of Culture 2021.
There are bound to be legitimate voices questioning whether the additional £11 million could be better spent.
Councillors insist it is value for money because of what they claim to be the real and lasting benefits of hosting the prestigious national event.
They point to Hull’s financial estimates of the ‘legacy’ of investment flowing from being UK City of Culture hosts last year.
Yet Coventrians generally appear to be proudly behind the project, which will shine a light on our great city as it emerges from the shadows.
We wish all involved great success.
