Coventry being awarded City of Culture 2021 is a historic time for celebration.
As our front page comment suggests, the greatest transformational potential from it rests in the city’s and its people’s pride; the city’s elevated sense of place, its image and self-image.
Just as Coventry is now in the national spotlight, our campaign is achieving national publicity for the city to do much more to recognise world-renowned ex-citizen, George Eliot. The city’s past is part of its future.
Now the influential Ian Harrabin at Historic Coventry Trust has joined other heavyweights in calling for her Bird Grove house to become a real cultural and tourist asset for the city.
One that is far more important than private gain.
